Common Area Design | DIT Studio

This expansive common area was designed by DIT Studio for a spacious 3000 ft² apartment in Dhaka. The design unifies multiple functional zones – from a decorative fireplace foyer and laundry station to a breakfast bar, dining room, and glass partition walls – into one cohesive, luxurious space. Marble-effect flooring, warm wooden accents, and classical detailing run throughout, establishing a grand yet welcoming atmosphere.

The design of DIT Studio for the common area for a 3000 sqaure feet apartment is a blend of modern aesthetics and functional elegance. The space features a seamless integration of various elements that create a cohesive and inviting environment. The flooring is adorned with large, polished tiles that reflect light and add a sense of spaciousness. The walls are a mix of neutral tones and textured finishes, providing a sophisticated backdrop for the room’s furnishings.

The kitchen area is equipped with sleek, contemporary cabinetry in a warm wood finish, complemented by a pristine white countertop and modern appliances. The dining area is highlighted by a large, rectangular table surrounded by comfortable, upholstered chairs, perfect for family gatherings and entertaining guests. Above the dining table, a stylish ceiling design with wooden accents and recessed lighting adds a touch of luxury.

This living area also features a cozy fireplace with a decorative mantel, creating a focal point for relaxation. Adjacent to the living space, a compact yet efficient laundry area is seamlessly integrated, featuring a washing machine and ample storage. The use of mirrors and glass elements throughout the design enhances the sense of openness and light, making the common area feel even more expansive.

Fireplace Foyer with Laundry Station

The main hallway features a striking white classical fireplace mantle with ornate carved detailing, topped by a large framed painting. Small potted plants and decorative vases adorn the mantle shelf. To the left, a dedicated laundry nook is set against a grey stone-textured feature wall, housing a front-loading washing machine beside a white floating vanity with storage drawers and an open countertop. Upper wall-mounted cabinets in white and wood finishes provide additional storage, while marble-veined floor tiles extend across the open-plan space. In the background, the kitchen bar area with a marble island and black pendant lights is visible, connecting the utility zone to the social areas.

Laundry and Utility Corner Close-Up

A closer view of the utility zone reveals the front-load washing machine set against the grey stone-clad accent wall. Above it, asymmetrical wooden and white wall cabinets with open shelving hold toiletries and small plants. A wall-mounted LED-lit rectangular mirror sits above the white vessel sink on a floating vanity with a wooden countertop. Glass display shelves are mounted on the textured stone wall for decorative items. Beyond this corner, the open kitchen with sleek cream upper cabinets and a grey backsplash is visible, along with the marble-topped breakfast island.

Dining Room with Wooden Buffet and Ceiling Fan

The dining area features a glass-top dining table set for six with upholstered brown and beige chairs on a patterned grey area rug. A tall wooden buffet cabinet with glass-front upper doors displaying crockery and solid lower doors with drawers lines one wall, topped by a light stone countertop holding a microwave and fresh fruit. The ceiling design includes a recessed panel in warm wood finish with a matching wooden-blade ceiling fan. Brown blackout curtains paired with white sheer drapes dress the window, and recessed downlights complete the ambient lighting scheme.

Dining Room Buffet Cabinet Close-Up

This close-up showcases the dining room buffet in rich warm wood with six glass-front upper cabinet doors lit by interior spotlights, displaying an organized collection of grey and white plates, cups, saucers, and glassware. The lower section features a combination of wooden-panel doors flanking a central bank of white drawers, set on a white base. A stone countertop holds a black microwave, fruit bowls, and small dishes. The wood-panelled ceiling with a matching fan and an air-conditioning unit are visible overhead, while taupe curtains frame the window to the right.

Hallway View into Dining Room with Mirror Wall

This transitional view captures the passageway leading into the dining room, framed by a wide white moulded doorway. A full-height diamond-pattern mirror panel flanks the entrance on the right, visually doubling the space and reflecting the wooden buffet and dining setup within. Through the opening, the set dining table, brown upholstered chairs, wooden buffet cabinets, and window curtains are visible. A horizontal-slatted wooden door on the left adds a natural timber texture to the white walls and marble floor.

Open Kitchen Bar with Wooden Partition Shelving

The open kitchen and bar area features a marble-topped island counter with a vertical wooden slat fascia, fronted by three black velvet-upholstered bar stools with gold metal legs. Above the island, black cylindrical pendant lights hang from the ceiling. Behind the bar, cream-coloured upper cabinets and a grey tile backsplash form the kitchen wall. A tall wooden-and-glass room divider with open shelves filled with indoor plants, vases, and decorative objects separates the kitchen zone from the adjacent living room, which is glimpsed through the glass panels. Recessed ceiling lights and cove LED strips illuminate the entire area.

Glass Partition Wall and Mirror Panels

The common area’s central partition wall is a grand design element consisting of white-framed glass folding doors flanked on both sides by large diamond-pattern mirror panels. Through the glass doors, the living room sofas and curtained window are visible, establishing visual connectivity while maintaining acoustic separation. The side mirrors reflect the hallway, wooden doors, and the laundry nook, amplifying light and the sense of space. Decorative vases and small potted plants sit on narrow glass shelves integrated into the partition framework. The polished white marble-look floor tiles unify the entire common area.
